A Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) class differs from a typical or public yoga class. For example, there are no adjustments or "assists". The facilitator typically stays on their mat throughout the class, practicing along with you.

TCTSY uses invitational language instead of directions or commands. This might sound like, "you're welcome to; if you like" or "...when you're ready."

Rather than focusing on alignment, the facilitator invites you to make choices based on how you are feeling. Sometimes trauma can make it difficult to feel in all or some parts of the body, and our vision is to create a safer place to have a present moment experience.

These are a few differences you may notice in a TCTSY class. These differences are rooted in attachment theory, trauma theory, and neuroscience.
